Dear Mr. Lumelsky:
I am sorry to have been so long in answering your letter. I have been on
trips and it was misplaced.
Our laboratory highers people at the Ph.D. level only when they have done
research in which we have a direct interest and we are not active in any
of the areas you mention. However, I have discussed your qualifications
with several people including some people from companies and while no
one was willing to make a definite promise, the general opinion was that
while the job situation is tight, your qualifications are good enough so that
you would be able to find a job programming without very much difficulty
provided you were willing to take a not very interesting job while you
waited for someting better to turn up.
In general, it is difficulty to get a job without being available for an
interview.
